Conclusion

National Socialism is an all encompassing ideology. It touches almost all aspects of the lives of the German People. This project has shown the influences of National Socialism in the cultural and artistic realm of Germany. Most of the art forms (as seen in the selected few here in this project) have only one objective. This objective is to propagate and to keep in place the ideology of Nazis. In the process, National Socialism is incorporated into the various components of artistic expressions. Hence, art is Nazified.

The main purpose of this project is to show how art was nazified by the Nazis in order to serve as an effective tool to transmit the principles of their ideology. It is divided into various sections and these sections taken as a whole provide form the overall analysis. We have attempted to shown crucial elements of Nazism in the section on origin of National Socialism that are vividly incorporated into the artistic realm of Germany. The largely descriptive section on organization and control has shown the means by which the Nazis attempt to recontruct the cultural lives of the German people. It also demonstrated the importance of this realm attached by the Nazis. The four fields of art chosen by us in the respective sections of Architecture, Films, Music and Visual Arts provided some examples of how art was nazified to portray their ideology and how they are used as means of propaganda.

This project has shown to a large extent that art is being effectively Nazified  by the Nazis in their attempt to reconstruct the cultural life of the German people. For example, the genre paintings with themes of the country life, the farmer, the spirit of the woods and so on became very popular in the Third Reich. The heightening of popularity is largely due to the Nazis effort. Therefore it is the opinion of this group that art is being transformed to be an effective ideological vehicle of the Nazis. However, whether this vehicle is successfully in transforming the mindset of the German people requires more extensive study, which this project did not set to do right from the beginning.
